Until about 6000 BC,
UK was part of the continent of Europe. Stone-age people arrived 3000

capital town and built the Tower of London. During this time the
Norman and Anglo-Saxon language and customs merged. Henry II gained
a piece of French Empire in the South. He made Thomas Becket Archbishop
of Canterbury.
Another implausible period in the history of Great Britain was during
the reign of Queen Victoria. Britain dominated the world industrially,
commercially and militarily. However, the period ended with World
War I, economic crises and World War II in which Britain suffered
considerably.
