Location: 8 kilometers east of the city center at the end
of AL-12 the dual carriage way.
The new airport of the city has been built very recently and
is easily accessible from the N340 highway and from Autovia.
This important airport is sited very close to the Mediterranean
coast.
It has two runways and the apron can easily handle about eleven
aircraft at any time. The runways have been built in a way
that during the takeoffs and the landings the passengers get
a panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea. The apron can also
accommodate small sports aircrafts.
INFORMATION AND HELP DESKS
The information counters are placed at the Arrivals and Departures
halls along with a tourist information counter in the Arrivals
hall to assist with further travel plans and flight details.
AIRPORT FACILITIES
Money and communications:
The passengers get the facility to exchange the currency at
the cash point at this small but very neat and clean airport
of Almira.
Eating and drinking:
The airport has a restaurant and a café. They are very
well maintained and serves the passengers with an array of
snack items. The snacks are very reasonably priced and one
can also buy alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at the restaurant.
Shopping:
The airport is equipped with a duty free shop wherein the
passengers can enjoy buying gift items, perfumes, beautiful
watches, wines and many more items as souvenir.
Parking:
The airport terminal provides one of the best and one of the
most systematic parking spaces. The car parking is sited in
front of the terminal building. One needs to buy the parking
token as soon as one enters the parking lot. The first 20
minutes of parking is free of charge and after these 20 minutes
the vehicle is charged on an hourly basis.
One needs to insert the parking token into the 'caja' machine
and also the required fee. One needs to place the token into
the machine before exiting the parking lot.
Other facilities:
The terminal building consists of three floors. The arrival
area is on the ground floor and is equipped with the facilities
of baggage check, cafe-bar, duty free shop, medical services
and tour operator services. The first floor provides a departure
gateway and is equipped with a café-bar, duty free
shop and a waiting room. The second floor has the admin department
of the airport and also has a terrace which at times is used
as the departure hall for the passengers.
Disabled Facilities:
The airport provides special assistance for the physically
impaired passengers. Special ramps, elevators, adapted telecommunication
facility and customized toilets are available on the airport
to facilitate the physically challenged passengers.
Wheelchairs are easily available on the airport and the staff
is readily available to provide assistance through customs
and immigration. These facilities can easily be availed by
the passengers by placing a request at the ticket counter.
